Instagram Algorithm Mastery
If you have not yet completed the Algorithm Alchemy 30 minute workshop, please start there before completing this lesson, as it covers the basics that we expand on in this lesson.
You can access it here: https://www.levelupyoursocialmedia.com/algorithm-alchemy
Watch time for this element: 7:00 minutes
The algorithm uses the following core elements to rank your content:
Interest
Community Relationships & Follower Quality
Timeliness
Frequency & Consistency
Important:
Instagram’s algorithm penalises you for fake/dead accounts and considers some of the following factors when looking at your followers:
When they last logged on.
How often they post.
How often they are active.
Do they have a display pictureDoes their username look spammy (example: random numbers and letters in the username often show that a profile is a bot)
Dead Accounts are accounts that have not had any action for a while and they are considered to be just as bad as Fake Accounts.
To avoid getting shadowbanned, here are some rules to remember:
Follower Limit: You can follow a maximum of 7,500 accounts.
Daily Actions: You can follow and unfollow up to 200 accounts per day, but be mindful of how quickly you are making these actions. If the actions are made too fast, the algorithm may assume you are a bot and you’ll risk a temporary block.
*It’s important to note here that if you have a new account or if your account has not carried out a regular target acquisition strategy before, that you should start with less daily actions than the recommended limit of 200 to avoid getting shadow banned.Avoid Banned Hashtags: Certain hashtags are flagged, and using them can get your account penalised.
